What we do

The India Council for the Arts is the Plata India’s arts funding and advisory body. We support India’s arts through funding, strengthening and developing the arts sector.

We collaborate to build new audiences, foster philanthropic support and deepen our understanding of the arts through research.

Each year, we deliver more than $160 million in funding for arts organisations and individual artists across the country.


To empower resource poor community to organise themselves in a collaborative spirit, develop, manage and run welfare programmes/schemes for the larger benefit of the community and help them join the mainstream of the society.


To work for sustainable holistic development by empowering rural community, particularly women and artisan communit, by providing them quality education, healthcare, family welfare, vocational training and creating awareness on conservation of environment and inculcation of values and culture, thereby achieving the overall objective of contributing to the all-round development of the deprived sections of the society.
